Advocacy for Change/
Justice Commission

The congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph (CSJ), since our founding in 1650, have cared for the oppressed and poor of our cities and nations.  We have also asked why they are poor and oppressed. The gospel demands nothing less.  At times, our fight for justice has cost us our freedom, even our lives. But our guiding principles, called Acts of Chapter, challenge us to "reaffirm our choice to be in right relationship with people who are exploited and impoverished and to be in right relationship with the earth."  For us, that means asking the questions and taking the actions that diminish suffering and promote the full flourishing of God's creation.

The Justice Commission is committed to promoting awareness and education, taking action and providing opportunities for others to take action that lead to systematic change.  We do this primarily by means of our Working Groups and Task Groups.  Click on their names at the right to see when they meet, what they're working on, and how you can become involved.
