Justice Working Group of the Justice Commission, Seeing Justice with New
Eyes is a panel conversation on criminal justice with (pictured below left to right) Terry Carlson,
Deputy Commissioner for the facilities division with the Minnesota
Department of Corrections; Amy Levad, Associate Professor of moral
theology at the University of St. Thomas; and Rev. Dr. Janet Johnson,
Ordained Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church (A.M.E.C) and
Assistant to the Pastor at Wayman A.M.E Church. This event will be held
on Tuesday, October 20 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Carondelet Center Dining

Race Matters: Opening the Door
the Catholic Charities Office for Social Justice, Discussions that
Encounter and St. Olaf Parish for a transformative discussion on race on
November 12 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. (free community meal starts at 6 p.m.).
We invite you to open the door to dialogue that moves beyond polite
conversation and past the paralysis caused by fear of misunderstanding.
We hope this event will move us toward a shared commitment to create

End of Season Harvest
This growing season, Celeste's Dream
harvested 310 pounds of produce and donated 225 pounds to Sarah’s…an
Oasis for Women and Halley Q. Brown Food Shelf. Three gallons of apples
were also donated to Highland Catholic School/Lumen Christi Parish for
their annual luncheon for senior parishioners.

Honoree. The 2016 theme established by the National Women’s History
Project is “Working to Form a More Perfect Union: Honoring Women in

NAVIGATE MN Gala | Minnesotanos Awards - October 1, 2015
Immigration Task Group of the Justice Commission of the Sisters of St.
Joseph of Carondelet and Consociates is a bronze level sponsor of the
2015 NAVIGATE MN Gala | Minnesotanos Awards on October 1st from 5:00-8
pm at the Parkway Theater. Navigate MN is a leadership development
program for immigrant young adults in Minnesota facing financial, social
and legal barriers to achieve their dreams through changing unjust
systems. Through NAVIGATE these young adults help their community and
themselves by working to access college education, jobs and legal
status. All are encouraged to join us for this free event, but

Native Voices for Planet Earth - The United Nations Climate Change Conference 2015
The public is invited to hear Tom Goldtooth, the Executive Director of the Indigenous Environmental Network.
On Saturday, September 26, Tom will engage our community in an
inspiring question and answer session and speak about the upcoming UN

Day of Prayer with Members of Consecrated Life - Sunday, September 13
of all ages and walks of life are invited to join with consecrated
women and men for a special Day of Prayer in celebration of the 2015
Year of Consecrated Life. Special presentations by illustrator and
author, Brother Mickey McGrath (OSFS). This is a free event on September

Mary Kraft, CSJ, Honored at Archivist Conference

Archivists of Congregations of Women Religious (ACWR) is commemorating
the 25th anniversary of its founding this year. As part of this
celebration, Mary Kraft, CSJ, of St. Paul, Minnesota, will be recognized
as a founding member this month (August) at ACWR’s 2015 Triennial
Meeting in Pittsburgh, PA. Mary, a St. Paul native, joined the Sisters
of St. Joseph of Carondelet, St. Paul Province (CSJs), in 1960. She
began working in the CSJ’s archives in 1977 in conjunction with a
variety of other ministries including teaching, communications and

Feast of Mary Magdalene

Women and men joined in prayer and gospel for the Feast of Mary Magdalene on Carondelet Center's lawn. Those in attendance blessed each other with spices and joyfully sang in celebration.

bursting, resulting in a mid-season harvest. Harvested plants include
4.5 pounds of lettuce, 3.4 pounds of chard and 1.8 pounds of kale. For

As a result of the Spring 2015 Prairie Burn,
new growth of native prairie grass, flowers and shrubs have bloomed.

killings of nine persons at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church
in Charleston, South Carolina.
We extend prayers to the families
of Rev. Clementa Pinckney, Cynthia Hurd, Susie Jackson, Ethel Lance,
Rev. DePayne Middleton-Doctor, Tywanza Sanders, Rev. Daniel Simmons,
Rev. Sharonda Singleton and Myra Thompson, to all the members of Mother
Emmanuel Church and all the AME family, and to the people of Charleston.

St. Mary’s Health Clinics (SMHC) and the Ecuadorian Consulate signed a Memorandum of Agreement to support the healthcare needs of the Minnesota’s Ecuadorian and Latino citizens. Minnesota’s Consul of Ecuador, Silvia Ontaneda Andrade and SMHC Executive Director, Melissa Gatten, signed the document. They were joined by SMHC staff Cristina Flood Urdangarin, Outreach Manager, Loulia Peterson, RD, DB Coordinator, and Alma Galvez, Community Health Worker. Also attending were a host of Ecuadoran people and Latino press., including Univison Minnesota.
