On January 4, 2010 President Obama issued a proclamation naming January as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. This followed a 2007 Senate resolution naming January 11th as Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and Consociates, St. Paul Province is involved in Anti-Human Trafficking work through it’s Anti Human Trafficking Working Group. The Working Group’s mission is to provide opportunities for education, public awareness, and to support legislation that incorporates anti human trafficking and protection measures for victims of sexual trafficking. The working group endeavors to provide for some unmet needs of local survivors of sex trafficking.
