During this season of Lent, Earth Partners invites you to join us in prayer, reflection and action. Lent is a time to turn back to God, a time to re-awaken, a time to re-orient ourselves spiritually, a time to re-commit ourselves more deeply—a time for conversion. In his 2015 Encyclical Laudato Si’, Pope Francis calls us to Care for Our Common Home. He urges us towards “ecological conversion” and writes that “Living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential…” (LS #217). As Lent begins, we encourage you to start by simply tracking the waste you generate in order to increase your consciousness and awareness. On your refrigerator or bulletin board, keep a sheet of paper to track everything that you put in the garbage. This does not include what you recycle or compost.
