Happy Holidays from the CSJ Justice Office to all of you! We recognize that with the holiday meals and gatherings in the days and weeks ahead that there will be plenty of opportunities for conversations with family and friends that are both life-giving and challenging. This holiday season, the CSJ Justice Commission is drawing upon resources from the On Being Civil Conversations Project to help ground our conversations and promote “justice as healing.”

At our December Justice Commission meeting, the CSJ Justice liaisons will be using resources from the On Being Civil Conversations Project to model conversations grounded in the following six virtues:

  • words that matter,
  • hospitality,
  • humility,
  • patience,
  • generous listening,
  • and adventurous civility.

These grounding virtues are helpful tools in navigating challenging conversations with family and friends during the holidays and can be helpful resources in our daily lives. We hope you find them useful, as well.
