Join us for the first in this two film screening and conversation series that stretch our concept of “welcome” and “home” and the significance that listening plays. Each film reflects on real people and events and the role that open-heartedness across cultures plays.
In 1944, 75,000 Norwegians became refugees in their own country after the German occupants set fire to their homes. This 2018 film interweaves conversations between elderly Norwegians and refugee children from Syria and Sudan remembering their experiences of war and dislocation.
This weekend is marked by All Saints, All Souls, Dia de los Muertos, and other commemorations of those who preceded us in time and space, prompting us to reflect on the blessings that can be offered across cultures and generations when compassion and love are primary.
